Internet marketers devote lots of their time and money on traffic generation. The reason is obvious. Traffic is the life line, the key to success with their online business. If they don’t get a decent amount of traffic to the website everyday, they will not make good income from home.
You can drive traffic on the internet using lots of different methods. You can have other websites to advertise your business by using pay-per-click advertising program. This program will allow your links to appear on targeted websites like search engine and relevant websites and you will get the traffic from these sites.
If you are on low budget, try free marketing tactics. The beauty of internet business is you can start with little or no investment but gain high profit, as long as you are hardworking. The internet is about information and if you distribute information and content for free, you will get the traffic for free.
One way to get free traffic is by using web 2.0 sites like Squidoo and Hubpages. All these sites are loved by Google. You can post articles for free to Hubpages and include the link to your website. You probably want your Squidoo lens or hub to appear on Google for certain keywords, therefore don’t forget to insert the keywords in your hub title.
Another method to drive free targeted traffic is by using video marketing. After the creation of video sharing sites, more internet users are searching at Youtube to look for information and product reviews.
If you don’t try video marketing, you will leave lots of money on the table. Most marketers spend thousands on camcorder and expensive video software for this purpose. However, if you are on low budget, you don’t need to buy any of these tools. You can simply use your webcam or cell phones which can also capture videos. Upload to Youtube and don’t forget to display your website URL in the video.
The concept of Youtube marketing is similar to Google search, except people are looking for videos. People will enter one search query before finding your videos, so these are targeted traffic.
Other method to get targeted traffic would be to start your own blog. There are lots of blogging platform available on the internet, like Blogger, WordPress and Live Journal. Google loves blogs since the content is fresh and unique.
Publishing your own blog is getting easier these days. You can try free blogging sites like Blogger, WordPress or Jimbdo. However, once you are serious, it would be better to register a domain name and host your blog with paid hosting.

How to Keep Your Web Content Fresh

The majority of new website owners feel like constructing the website is the hardest part of having an online business. Within time, however, they become aware the updating the site with fresh content requires the most work.
Keeping the content on your website fresh can be accomplished by adding new articles. You could plan to add one new article to your site every day. This also works to increase your site’s search engine optimization because search engines like websites with substantial content.
For individuals who want to keep their web content fresh and interesting but do not write for themselves, there are many options available. Online reprint directories are full of articles that you can post on your website. When you use these articles you will have to include a box at the end of the article with information about the author.
If you would rather not promote someone else on your website, you can buy private label rights articles. Also known as PLR, these are pre-written articles, often sold in packs. These are inexpensive; however, they are sold to more than one person. If you are looking for fresh, original content, you may want to hire a ghostwriter. Ask other internet marketers for referrals. Many people use ghostwriters; it is not uncommon at all.
It is absolutely essential that your content be timely and not outdated. It is important to include information in your articles that relate to recent events. During the month of October, for example, you can add some information about Breast Cancer Awareness.
If a holiday is approaching, add information to your site that your target market can use. For instance, if Halloween is drawing near, and you have a website targeted to families, fill it with information on making costumes, carving pumpkins, and staying safe while trick-or-treating.
When an event is over, remove the information from your home page. If you published pages that contain articles about a certain event, move the links to an archive page. Your readers will still be able to find the content, but your home page will remain fresh looking.
Just like celebrities looking to refresh their image, your website can get a makeover. For example, you might have a banner on your home page that has been there since the day that you first launched your website. Try changing the banner and see what responses you get from regular visitors to your site.
Fresh content also means the graphics, pictures, and photos that you use on your website. People who make a habit of visiting your site will instantly know that you have updated your website if they see that images have been moved around as content has been adjusted.
Updating your website is one of many great ways to boost traffic to your website. You can include information about updates in the emails you send to individuals on your mailing list. Your newsletter could feature a small part of a newly posted article followed by a link to the page where the entire article appears.
Need Cheap Website Traffic? Here’s how to get it.

There is one thing on which every online marketer agrees: the key to success is traffic. No matter how appealing your product or service may be, you will fail without traffic.
That is why website owners spend a large percentage of their time, and often lots of money, on online, print, and electronic advertising.
Instead, try the following.
1. Write articles on subjects of interest to the kinds of people you want to get to your website. End each article with an author’s box, like the one at the end of this article. Use article distribution software or one of several services to distribute those articles. Each time webmasters hungry for content (and there are many) use your articles on their sites, you will pick up a link. And, as you know, links produce traffic.
2. Send out emails offering to swap links with other website owners. Target those whose visitors might be interested in your site and those of high quality.
3. Got a really good site? Or, got something to offer other website owners (an ebook, a calendar, etc.)? If so, try for some one way links. One way links can move you up the search engine ranking ladder faster than reciprocal links because the search engines consider them a true endorsement of your site.
4. If you are not yet blogging, you are missing a great opportunity. The search engines love blogs. A post a week is optimal, but even a post a month can help. Be sure your website links to your blog and your blog links to your website(s).
5. Webmasters are not the only ones starved for content; the same frequently appliers to bloggers. Offer to supply them with guest blogs (which include author’s boxes).
6. This may surprise you, but press releases can get you hundreds of links (and lots of publicity). There are agencies and software tools which will help you distribute your releases. Neither are expensive: you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I realize that not everyone can write. If you are “writing challenged”, don’t despair. You might have to search around awhile, but there are folks who write blog posts and/or articles for less than $10. Press release are generally more, but the cost is not prohibitive. Remember, your potential return for each project can be hundreds of links. And, you know what that means.
My Top Five Traffic Generators
There is one hard and fast rule in generating income for your website: A steady flow of website traffic. If no one goes to your site, it doesn’t really stand a chance of generating an income. Many sites have tried and failed in doing so, and these results add to the site’s demise. It takes money to maintain an income generating site; it also takes money to make money.
BUT, it doesn’t take a whole rake of cash to generate website traffic for your site.
Ever wonder how big hit sites drive traffic to their sites? Most of them are spending tons of money to drive the traffic to their sites, investing in many advertising campaigns and different forms of marketing schemes and gimmicks. This is all worthwhile because, well, they are what they are now, high earning, big hitting websites.
You don’t have to do this if you don’t really have their resources. There are many ways to generate low cost website traffic without having to spend what you don’t have or can’t afford. Many people have banked on high cost methods and have ended up losing their shirt over it.
Here I present to you my Top Five ways to generate low cost website traffic that could help your site a whole lot. Even if you only get a small percentage of successful visitors to client ratio it still works especially if you get a high volume of website traffic.
Write and Submit Articles
There are many ezines and online encyclopaedias on the internet which provides free space for articles to be submitted. If you want to save costs, you can do the articles yourself. There are many freelance writers who are willing to write for you for a small fee, but to save money, it is wise to do those articles yourself.
Write articles that are themed along with the niche of your site. Write something that you have expertise on (or a passion for) so that when they read it, they can feel your knowledge about the subject and will be eager to go to your site. Write articles that produce tips and guidelines to the subject or niche your site has.
Include a resource box at the end of your article that can link them to your site. Write a little about yourself and your site. If you provide a light, information-laden and interesting article, they will go to your site for more.
Make a Newsletter.
This may sound like hard work because of all the articles you may need to use to build a newsletter but on the contrary, this is not so. There are many writers and sites that are willing to provide free articles as long as they can get their name in on your newsletter. This will also provide free advertising for them as well.
As your newsletter gets passed around, you can widen your public awareness and build an opt-in list that can regularly visit your site.
Join Online Communities and Forums
This only requires your time and nothing else. You can share your knowledge and expertise with many online communities as well as your website. You can get free advertising when you go to forums that have the same subject or niche with your site.
Share your two cents and let them see how knowledgeable you are with the subject. As you build your reputation, you also build the reputation of your site, making it a reputable and honest business that could be frequented and trusted by many people.
Whatever you do – don’t spam – there is nothing worse than joining a forum just for the sake of getting your signature link out there. Contribute to the Forum – become respected.
Exchange Links
This is a sure and proven method. Rarely would you see a site where there is no link to another site. Many webmasters are willing to exchange links with one another so that they could produce more public awareness about their sites. You’ll soon see and feel the sudden upsurge of the traffic coming in to your site from other sites.
A major prerequisite in exchanging links with other sites is having the same niche or content as the other site. They should share a common subject so that there is continuity in the providing of service and information to what interests your target traffic.
Exchanging links also boosts your chances of getting a high ranking in search engine results. It is common knowledge that search engines ranks high sites that have inbound and outbound theme-related links. With a good ranking position in the search engines, you will generate more traffic in your website without the high costs.
Traffic Exchange
This is like exchanging links but on a different and higher level. This may cost a bit more than exchanging or trading links but could be made cheaper because you get to earn credits. You can use those credits when viewing others traffic, while you earn credits when someone views yours.
Traffic exchange services are the viewing of another’s site or page. This is done vice versa where a site can use your sites contents and so can you to his or her site. You both benefit from each others efforts to generate traffic. The other sites visitors can go to your pages and know more about your site as well as theirs. Once again the public awareness of your sites existence is boosted.

Making Paid Search More Effective

Paid search is a great way to get web traffic to your site from the major search engines. It also can drain your marketing budget in very quickly if not done properly. Someone is going to profit from your paid search campaign. Is it going to be the search engines or or us? Search engines make their money from clicks on our ads. The more clicks on our ads the more money they get. The real goal should be “more conversions with less clicks and lower cost”. Here are some strategies that should help.
1. Do not use Content Network in Google when you first set up a campaign default setting is set “on”. There are two things that you need to consider before turning on the content match. The first is: “The website that is hosting our ad gets paid every time someone clicks on the ad”. Most click fraud happens is when an owner of a site clicks on these ads. The second is: “Individuals who click on these ads are most often, at the research end of the buying cycle. Limit those who click on your ads to those who are on the buying side of the cycle.
2. Search Terms. The more general the term, less qualified the lead and the more the cost. What I try to think about what terms are going to get my ideal customer to my site.
3. Keyword “types” There are three types of keywords “Broad”, “Phrase” and “Exact”. The rule of thumb that I use is: for single word phrases, use exact match and for search phrases that are two to three words, used “phrase matching”. I am also experimenting with using “exact” matching for these terms as well. The more specific the search term is to what you are offering and who your ideal client is, the more qualified to lead will be. Better a small number of qualified leads than a large number of leads that waste your time and ultimately cost a lot more money.
4. Just a couple thoughts on writing creatives (ad copy). Use the following in your “headline” box: keyword: “your main keyword. This will put your keyword phrase into the headline. You want to attract only your ideal client (someone who is looking for exactly what you have to offer) so be specific. Add at least one of your “unique selling propositions”. This can be very challenging because of the space limitations. Rule of thumb, find out what your competitors are doing and do something different. For example, if everyone is offering free shipping, use one of your other unique selling propositions.
5. Landing pages require a great deal of thought. Landing page have one purpus, answer the questions that are on the mind of the searcher, the reason for the search. He entered his search terms because he has a problem, needs a solution or is in some kind of “pain”. You have about two seconds to convince him that you understand what he is going through and what he needs. You must show him that you possess the answers to his needs. Don’t just send them to your home page unless your home page can accomplish the above. Once you connect with your searcher you must have a call to action. You must be very specific and clear about the next steps. Have your “phone number” or “contact us button” on every page.
6. Track everything. Paid search is not an exact science. It takes time to set up and optimized your campaigns to get the results that you are looking for. Monitor your campaigns weekly to catch market changes, account issues or even site issues. Google, Yahoo and MSN have free tracking tools that work great.
There is good money in paid search, if done correctly. If you are new to this or do not have several hours a week, it might be a lot cheaper to find someone who knows what they are doing to help you rather than lose thousands of dollars trying to figure it out yourself.
